ASCENSION DAY WORSHIP
Ascension Day worship will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. By the 4th century the Ascension was being celebrated on the fourth day after Easter. The Ascension is in part an enthronement festival. The coronation of Christ the King is celebrated, but so in Him is the enthronement of humanity itself.
ATTENTION 2ND GRADER PARENTS!
Christ the King Church has long had the tradition of giving all 2nd grade students their own Bibles. The Bibles will be presented to all 2nd graders at the beginning of either worship service on May 4, 2008.
FREE LUNCH
Christ the King Church volunteers will serve the free lunch at the Wesley Center on Saturday, May 3. The menu will be tater tot casserole, garlic bread, baked beans, tossed salad, mixed fruit, and cookies and bars. Look for the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex for the items needed, as well as volunteers to cook, serve, and clean up. Many hands make light work!
YOUNG ADULTS
Attention Young Adults! The Young Adults Group (singles, couples, families in their 20's and 30's) will be meeting at 5:00 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month for Bible study and discussion. The next meeting is May 11.
SPRING CLEAN UP, SATURDAY, MAY 10
There will be a Work Day, Saturday, May 10, to clean up the property. Kids and adults are invited to meet on the church grounds at 9:30 a.m. and be prepared to rake, sweep the parking lot, pick up sticks and trash, or prune trees and bushes until noon or when finished. Many hands make short work!
ATTENTION WELCA!
All women at Christ the King are invited to attend the Women of the ELCA Cluster 7 Spring Gathering on Saturday, April 26th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington, Iowa. Coffee and registration begin at 8:30 a.m. with closing devotions and lunch at 12:00 p.m. The program will be about the operations of the Lutheran World Relief warehouse in Minneapolis. Registration costs $5.00, and the registration deadline is Wed., April 23rd. See the poster and letter on the bulletin board in the narthex for the registration contact information and directions to the church. Free babysitting is provided. See you there!
CRISIS CENTER BOX EMPHASIS
Each month we feature different items needed by the Crisis Center. During the month of April, we encourage you to bring soap, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent.
